President Bola Tinubu has declared that he has forgiven Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, putting an end to speculated tensions between the two leaders.
The reconciliation took place during a meeting on Sunday with members of the influential Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), who visited the president to intercede on Sanwo-Olu’s behalf.
According to ThisDay, the GAC delegation, led by its chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Olusi, pleaded with President Tinubu to forgive not only Sanwo-Olu but also other individuals from Lagos who may have offended him.
“I know Mr. President has not been happy with some people in Lagos, especially the governor,” Olusi reportedly said, before making a personal appeal for mercy.
Responding to the entreaties, President Tinubu assured the group that the rift had been resolved. “It’s all over now. All is forgiven,” he said.
In a show of humility and reconciliation, Governor Sanwo-Olu and other members of the GAC prostrated before the president, symbolizing their remorse and commitment to unity.
The meeting marks a significant thaw in relations and is expected to strengthen political alignment within the Lagos power structure.
