Labour Party Sets Friday for Lagos Chairmanship Primaries Ahead of July 12 LG Polls

LP threatens nationwide protest at INEC offices over BVAS

The Lagos State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has scheduled its chairmanship primaries for Friday, ahead of the forthcoming July 12 Local Government elections across the state.

The party’s state chairman, Pastor Dayo Ekong, confirmed the development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos.

According to Ekong, the chairmanship primaries will hold in all local government areas, using a delegate-based (indirect) system to select candidates.

“Our councillorship primaries are holding today (Thursday) across all the wards, while the chairmanship primaries will be conducted tomorrow (Friday) in every local government area,” she said.

Ekong assured that the process would be free, fair, and transparent, adding that the party is optimistic about its performance in the election.

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) is expected to conduct the local government elections in 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
