2027: Atiku, Obi Yet to Discuss ADC Presidential Ticket — Aide

0

The Special Adviser on Media to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has dismissed claims that Atiku and former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have held talks on compromising the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ibe made the clarification on Wednesday during an interview on Prime Time, a programme on Arise Television, monitored by DAILY POST.

According to him, discussions about who emerges as the ADC’s presidential candidate are premature, stressing that both Atiku and Obi are currently focused on building a strong and credible political platform capable of effectively challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Like I said earlier, having that kind of conversation is putting the car before the horse. Obi and Atiku have not had that conversation as far as the ADC is concerned,” Ibe said.

He explained that the priority of the opposition leaders is to ensure that the ADC is robust enough to serve as a viable alternative to the APC, warning that personal ambitions without a solid platform would be futile.

“If the platform of the ADC created is not robust enough, their aspirations and ambition will come to naught. They are trying to have a robust platform. Any other thing is a distraction brought about by the President Tinubu-led administration,” he added.

DAILY POST recalls that Atiku Abubakar had earlier stated that no presidential aspirant would be pressured to step down in the ADC presidential race ahead of the 2027 elections.
