The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State has openly declared loyalty to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The declaration was made on Sunday during Wike’s “thank you” visit to the area, where political leaders across party lines pledged to follow whatever direction he gives concerning the future of Rivers State politics.
Speaking at the event, APC chairman in the LGA, Rejoice Otobo, said the party was ready to abide by Wike’s instructions ahead of the next elections, citing his contributions to the development of the area.
“We are waiting for your instructions ahead of the 2027 elections in Rivers State. Wherever you ask us to go, we will go; whatever you ask us to do, we will do,” Otobo said.
He added that the people of Ahoada West had collectively resolved to align with Wike’s political decisions.
In a similar show of support, PDP chairman in the area, Ikechukwu Obuzor, also pledged total loyalty to the former governor, describing him as a leader who restored hope to the people.
“Wherever you go, we will go. Be assured that come 2027, Ahoada West will deliver the needed results for you,” Obuzor stated.
The Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Council, Chita Eugene, hailed Wike as the “political field marshal of the South-South,” praising his record of infrastructural development and governance during his tenure as Rivers State governor. He described the visit as more than a courtesy call, calling it “a celebration of effective leadership and public service.”
Also speaking, the House of Representatives member representing Ahoada West/Ogba-Egbema/Ndoni Federal Constituency, Victor Obuzor, said Wike deserved continued support due to his achievements and lasting impact on the area.
The event also witnessed a pledge of support from the Seyi Tinubu Support Group, led by Chidi Amadi, which reaffirmed its backing for Wike and President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
In his remarks, Wike thanked the people of Ahoada West for their overwhelming support for him and President Tinubu during the 2023 elections. He lamented what he described as declining leadership in Rivers State, insisting that Governor Siminalayi Fubara should not be given a second term.
“Rivers State was once respected nationwide for good governance, but that respect was lost due to poor leadership,” Wike said.
“We must correct that leadership mistake in 2027 and restore the political glory of our state.”
According to him, Rivers State is gradually regaining national respect due to his performance in the Federal Capital Territory, stressing the need for a trusted leader to drive the state’s progress going forward.
“We need a leader we can trust to return Rivers State to glory and sustainable development,” he added.
