Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to remain united, stressing that securing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 must be a collective priority.
The governor made the call while addressing party leaders at the APC quarterly stakeholders’ meeting, noting that political activities were gradually intensifying ahead of future elections. He cautioned party members against internal divisions fueled by personal ambitions or conflicting interests, warning that such actions could weaken the party’s electoral prospects.
“We must collectively work to deliver Ondo State for President Tinubu in 2027,” Aiyedatiwa said, adding that party cohesion is crucial to achieving that objective.
He advised members to avoid actions capable of undermining party leadership or fellow members, even while supporting preferred aspirants, emphasizing that internal discord could be costly for the APC.
The governor explained that the quarterly stakeholders’ meeting was introduced to deepen engagement, encourage feedback and strengthen collaboration within the party, as well as to review political and developmental progress in the state.
Highlighting achievements of his administration, Aiyedatiwa said the government had intensified efforts in the health sector, with several health facilities undergoing renovation and standby ambulances provided across all local government areas. He added that development projects were being deliberately spread across the 18 local councils to ensure balanced growth.
The governor also disclosed that the Federal Government had approved the revalidation of Ondo State’s deep seaport licence, explaining that the initial registration contained errors that failed to properly reflect the state’s identity.
Earlier, the APC Chairman in Ondo State, Ade Adetimehin, represented by the party’s Vice Chairman, Atili Agabra, said the meeting offered party members a platform to directly engage with the governor. He commended the state government for employing youths across various ministries, departments and agencies, describing the administration’s engagement with party structures as unprecedented.
Also speaking, the APC National Vice Chairman (South-West), Isaac Kekemeke, reaffirmed that Governor Aiyedatiwa remains the party’s leader in Ondo State. While acknowledging the presence of other influential figures within the party, he described the governor as the principal mobiliser for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition in the state.
Kekemeke added that President Tinubu has confidence in APC governors nationwide, describing Aiyedatiwa as a loyal party man and a key figure in the 2027 campaign in Ondo. He noted that most criticisms of the government were coming from within the party, arguing that opposition parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party no longer pose significant threats in the state.
He urged the governor to continue accommodating diverse interests within the APC and to lead efforts aimed at sustaining unity ahead of future political contests.
