Salah Crowned Premier League Player of the Season

Liverpool and Egypt superstar Mohamed Salah has been named the Premier League Player of the Season for the second time, capping off a phenomenal campaign in which he powered the Reds to a historic 20th English league title.

The 32-year-old forward clinched the prestigious award after netting 28 league goals — the highest in the division — and providing 18 assists, placing him within touching distance of the Premier League single-season assist record jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

With one game remaining against FA Cup champions Crystal Palace, Salah needs just two more assists to break the all-time record.

The award, which combines votes from the public and a panel of football experts, ends a four-year dominance by Manchester City players. Salah previously won the title in the 2017/18 season.

Notably, Salah edged out several top contenders, including teammate Virgil van Dijk — the last non-City player to win the award in 2018/19 — as well as Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch, Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

Earlier this month, Salah was also named the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year, winning nearly 90% of the votes — the widest margin in over two decades.

His extraordinary individual brilliance and leadership have been central to Liverpool’s title charge, cementing his status as one of the Premier League’s all-time greats.
