Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has drawn comparisons to football icon Cristiano Ronaldo for his blistering speed and goal-scoring prowess. Former Besiktas forward and current pundit Nihat Kahveci made the comparison after Osimhen’s stellar performance in Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over Sivasspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.
Speaking on Kontraspor’s YouTube channel via Haber Global, Kahveci praised Osimhen’s athleticism:
“He’s like Cristiano Ronaldo. I thought I was fast when I played, but Osimhen is on another level. There’s a sports mode in cars, and Osimhen has it. He stretched to reach that ball in a way no other center forward could.”
The 25-year-old striker has been in sensational form this season, netting seven goals in nine league appearances and three goals in four Europa League matches.
Injury Setback for Galatasaray’s Star Striker
Despite his penalty goal in the match against Sivasspor, Osimhen was forced off in the 74th minute due to a muscle injury. The club later confirmed that he had sustained a moderate strain and bleeding in his right upper back muscle, as revealed by an MRI scan.
A statement from Turkish news outlet Fanatik outlined the diagnosis:
“Victor Osimhen, who experienced pain in his upper back muscle during match week 15, was diagnosed with moderate strain and bleeding in the right upper back muscle group following an MRI examination. Treatment has commenced.”
While Galatasaray has initiated Osimhen’s recovery process, no specific timeline for his return has been provided.
Osimhen’s absence is a significant blow for Galatasaray, given his vital role in the team’s attack this season. His impressive goal-scoring form has been pivotal, and the club now faces the challenge of adjusting without their star forward as they await his recovery.
