Shooting Stars Technical Adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote, has issued a stern warning to his players as they prepare for the second stanza of the 2024-25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

Ogunbote, speaking after the team’s resumption from the New Year break, emphasized that the upcoming fixtures would be even more challenging than the first round, which itself was a tough test. Despite the challenges ahead, the veteran coach remains confident that his team will be well-prepared to maintain a strong performance in the second half of the season.

“I think we do not need anybody to tell us that it is going to be a very tough second round, even though the first round was equally challenging,” Ogunbote remarked following a Monday training session. “Our position in the first round will surely attract a lot of challenges, but we have been able to tell our players, and I am sure they are aware of that too.”

Shooting Stars, who finished the first half of the season in third place with 33 points, will face heightened expectations as they aim to sustain their momentum and secure a favorable position in the latter stages of the league.

Ogunbote urged his players to remain focused and committed, stressing the importance of giving their best both on and off the pitch. “Everything we need to do is to be on our toes, to make sure that we give our best to ensure that we represent the team and the state very well,” he added.

With the second round set to kick off soon, Shooting Stars will be looking to build on their strong start and continue to impress in the highly competitive NPFL.
