Captain of the Super Eagles, Ahmed Musa, has acknowledged the growing frustration among Nigerian football fans over the recent underwhelming performances of the senior national team.

Speaking ahead of Nigeria’s highly anticipated Unity Cup fixture against Ghana, scheduled for Wednesday at the Gtech Community Stadium in London, Musa admitted that the team has not lived up to expectations.

“We know that a lot of Nigerians are, I would say, very disappointed in the Super Eagles,” Musa said in an interview with the team’s media crew in London.

Despite the concerns, the 32-year-old Kano Pillars forward urged fans to continue supporting the team, emphasizing that their unwavering backing plays a vital role in boosting morale and driving performance on the pitch.

Musa, who returns to the national team after a lengthy absence, expressed his excitement at donning the national colours once again. He praised the team’s coaching staff for their commitment to scouting local talent from the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), a move he believes will strengthen the national squad.

As the Super Eagles prepare to face long-time rivals Ghana, the Unity Cup match presents an opportunity for the coaching crew to assess new talent and reinforce team chemistry ahead of future international competitions.
