Enyimba head coach, Yemi Olanrewaju, has emphasized the importance of securing victory in their rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 13 fixture against Sunshine Stars.
The People’s Elephant are under pressure to end a four-game winless streak in the league. Despite their recent struggles domestically, the Aba-based side showcased resilience in continental action, holding Egypt’s Zamalek to a thrilling 2-2 draw in a CAF Confederation Cup encounter last weekend.
Speaking to the club’s media team, Olanrewaju expressed determination to turn the tide in their league campaign.
“Against Sunshine, we have to win. I don’t really care how the goals come, but we just have to secure the three points,” he asserted.
Enyimba currently sit eighth on the NPFL table with 21 points from 13 matches. With three outstanding games in hand, a win against Sunshine Stars could significantly boost their push for a higher league position.
The fixture represents a critical opportunity for the defending champions to regain momentum in their quest for domestic success.
