Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri will be sidelined for “several weeks” after suffering a muscle injury during the team’s 1-1 draw at Brighton on Saturday. Nwaneri, who netted the Gunners’ sole goal in the match, was forced off at halftime due to the injury.
The young attacking midfielder had been enjoying a breakthrough season, having been fast-tracked into the first team due to a series of strong performances. His contributions have been especially vital with a number of key players out injured, including Bukayo Saka, Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Raheem Sterling.
Nwaneri, a promising talent from Arsenal’s academy, has made 18 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring five goals. His absence will be a blow to Arteta’s squad as they continue their quest for silverware this term.
