Amorim Urges Bruno Fernandes to Curb Frustration and Trust Teammates

Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, has highlighted a key flaw in Bruno Fernandes’ on-field attitude, urging the midfielder to maintain focus and allow teammates to play their roles.

Speaking after United’s 2-1 preseason victory over West Ham — a match in which Fernandes scored both goals — Amorim praised the Portuguese star’s talent but noted that his tendency to become frustrated and try to do too much can hurt the team’s structure.

“Sometimes the problem is he gets frustrated and loses a little bit of focus of his job,” Amorim told MUTV, referencing moments where Fernandes overextends himself in an effort to carry the team.

“He wants to help his teammates so much, but sometimes it’s not the best thing to do. They have to do their job, and Bruno, for example, has to wait for the ball,” he added.

Despite a disappointing 2024/25 season in which Manchester United finished just above the relegation zone with 42 points, Fernandes was a bright spot individually, contributing 19 goals and 19 assists in 57 appearances.

Still, criticism from fans and pundits has persisted over his habit of trying to do everything himself — a trait Amorim believes must be adjusted for better team cohesion under his leadership.

Fernandes’ brace in the West Ham friendly serves as a reminder of his quality — but Amorim is focused on helping him balance passion with patience ahead of the new season.
