Akwa United’s technical adviser, Kennedy Boboye, has reaffirmed the team’s commitment to securing a place in the final of the 2025 President Federation Cup.
The Promise Keepers are set to face Pillars Investors in the competition’s qualifying round as they seek to progress further. However, the team is currently struggling in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), battling relegation and yet to register a victory under Boboye’s management.
Despite their league challenges, Boboye remains optimistic that a win in the cup competition could serve as a turning point for the team’s confidence and performance in the NPFL.
“At this point, it is important for us to win every match we play, irrespective of who our opponents are,” Boboye told Akwa United’s media team. “Knockout competitions are full of surprises, and we won’t gamble with our selection. We will approach this match with all seriousness, knowing that victory will boost our morale and restore our confidence.”
Emphasizing the significance of the tournament, Boboye added that his team is fully focused on securing qualification.
“The FA Cup is a knockout competition, and we cannot afford to underrate any team. Our focus is to win our games and ensure we secure qualification to represent the state in the President Federation Cup competition,” he stated.
Akwa United will look to turn their fortunes around as they prepare for the crucial encounter against Pillars Investors.
