Kola Ologbodiyan, former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed concerns that the increasing involvement of Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, in the governance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is putting the PDP at risk of collapse.
Speaking during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday, Ologbodiyan claimed that there are deliberate attempts to reduce the PDP to nothing more than a mere branch of the ruling APC. He emphasized that the influence of Wike, a former presidential aspirant under the PDP and former Governor of Rivers State, is creating a dangerous space for the party’s potential disintegration.
Ologbodiyan further reiterated the party’s official stance, stating, “As a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, whatever Debo Ologunagba, the party’s current National Publicity Secretary, says is the official position of the party.” He also affirmed the constitutional recognition of Sunday Ude Okoye within the party’s leadership structure, backing the legitimacy of his role.
This statement comes amidst the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP, with internal disputes and external pressure escalating the party’s internal turmoil. Ologbodiyan’s comments reflect growing concerns over the party’s stability in the face of mounting challenges from within and outside its ranks.
