Wabara Responds to Wike’s Criticism, Challenges Him to Clarify Allegations

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT), Adolphus Wabara, has responded to recent comments by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, challenging him to explain the reasons behind being publicly disowned.

Wabara’s response comes after Wike, in a media interaction held in Abuja, criticized Wabara’s leadership as the PDP BoT Chairman. Wike also stated that, had Wabara been his father, he would have disowned him.

In a statement signed by Wabara, he expressed disappointment at Wike’s remarks, describing them as “disgraceful” and beneath the decorum expected of a man of Wike’s stature. Wabara went further to condemn the Minister’s language, calling it an inappropriate and immature response.

“I would expect a man of his caliber and status to mind his language and words,” Wabara stated. “He should be sure of his facts. I don’t wish to dignify such comments by engaging in a back-and-forth.”

Wabara, who served as the Senate President, also challenged Wike to clarify the specific wrong he had committed to deserve such public disownment, stating, “For a son to disown his father, the father must have done something terribly wrong. Can Wike please tell the world what I did wrong to him?”

Wabara also addressed allegations of corruption, asserting his integrity. “Nigerians know who the corrupt individuals are, and I can proudly say that I, Adolphus Wabara, am not one of them,” he declared. “I will not engage with those who lack respect for elders.”
