Valentine Ozigbo, a prominent contender in the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary in Anambra State, has formally rejected the results of the April 5, 2025, exercise, condemning the process as a “well-orchestrated heist” and a “charade” that undermines democratic principles.
In a powerful public statement, Ozigbo disclosed that he has filed a formal petition with the APC Appeals Committee, citing numerous irregularities in the conduct of the primary. He highlighted that the delegate list was infiltrated by non-party members, while genuine party supporters were either excluded or forcibly barred from voting. Additionally, he claimed that accreditation processes were either ignored or manipulated, and the vote counting was marked by a lack of transparency.
Ozigbo stressed that his objection to the results was not driven by personal ambitions but by a commitment to uphold democratic ideals. “This is not just about me,” he stated. “It is about the integrity of our democracy, the values we claim to uphold, and the future we owe to our children.”
Despite the setbacks, Ozigbo reaffirmed his dedication to the APC and his vision for the people of Anambra. “I will not be swayed. I will not abandon this cause for personal gain. I will stand firm within the APC and continue to advocate for the values we share, as the future of Ndi Anambra is too important,” he added.
In an impassioned message to his supporters, whom he referred to as “the dreamers, the believers, the Valiants,” Ozigbo encouraged them to remain hopeful and resilient: “Keep your heads high. Our mission endures. Stay strong. Stay hopeful. We will not back down. We will not be broken.”
Ozigbo also issued a stern warning to those behind the alleged manipulation of the primary process: “The tide of history is turning. The people are watching. History is recording. The future cannot be bribed or bullied.”
Calling for the APC to take action, Ozigbo urged the party to redeem its reputation and demonstrate a commitment to justice. “This election is a defining moment—not just for Anambra, but for the credibility of our party and the soul of our nation. The APC still has an opportunity to correct this injustice and present a candidate who can genuinely lead.”
Ozigbo concluded with a rallying cry: “May wisdom guide us, may courage fortify us, and may the grace of God continue to sustain us. Ka Anambra Chawapu.”
