The Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, has urged elected officials and chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to embark on aggressive political marketing ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in Abuja during a special Iftar and Lent dinner hosted by the PGF, Uzodinma emphasized the need to strengthen the party’s grassroots appeal and ensure its continued dominance in Nigeria’s political landscape.
The high-profile gathering brought together key APC stakeholders, including governors from Ekiti, Ondo, Edo, and Ebonyi; Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin; and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu. Also in attendance were serving and former members of the National Assembly, ministers, state party chairmen, former governors, and members of the APC National Working Committee (NWC), led by Deputy National Chairman (South) Emma Enurku.
Uzodinma noted that the event was an opportunity for party leaders in government to reflect on the nation’s progress, pray for unity, and strategize for the future. He stressed that the success of the APC-led administration under President Bola Tinubu was a collective responsibility, urging party faithful to embrace “political evangelism” to promote the government’s achievements.
“The success of this government is our collective success. We are all marketing officers who must actively promote the government and the party,” Uzodinma stated. “Our identity is the APC, and we must be proud of it. As we confront the challenges of governance, we must deploy political evangelism to market the party.”
With 21 governors and a majority in the National Assembly, Uzodinma expressed confidence in the party’s strength and urged members not to be distracted by opposition forces. He also commended APC leaders for their unwavering support of President Tinubu’s administration, noting that the government’s economic reforms were already yielding positive results.
As the APC gears up for future elections, Uzodinma’s rallying call underscores the party’s commitment to consolidating power and ensuring continued governance at both national and subnational levels.
