Tinubu Will Dump Wike After Securing South-South — Sule Lamido Alleges

Alleged N1.35bn Fraud: Appeal Court reserves ruling in Sule Lamido’s no case submission

Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will sack the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, once he no longer serves the President’s political interests in the South-South region.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV’s Prime Time on Tuesday night, Lamido claimed that Wike’s appointment was purely strategic — aimed at helping Tinubu consolidate political control in the oil-rich region ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Tinubu was looking for someone who will help him in his political interest,” Lamido stated.
“The whole appointment of Wike was to make sure Tinubu secures the South-South.”

Lamido pointed to recent political gains in Akwa Ibom and Edo states as signs that Tinubu’s plan is working, noting that Wike already commands influence in Rivers State.

“So far, he has been able to get Akwa Ibom and Edo states. Wike already has Rivers State,” he said. “By the time Tinubu is able to secure the South-South in his own basket, Wike will become irrelevant, and he will remove him.”

According to the former governor, Wike’s role in the cabinet is transactional and will end once his usefulness in Tinubu’s broader political agenda expires.

“He appointed Wike for a purpose, gave him an office for a purpose; by the time the purpose is no more, that’s the end of it,” Lamido concluded.

The explosive remarks come amid ongoing speculation about Wike’s shifting political loyalties and his role within the Tinubu administration.
