Sule Lamido Backs ADC-Led Opposition Coalition, Pledges Loyalty to PDP

Former Governor of Jigawa State and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sule Lamido, has thrown his weight behind the growing opposition coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing national interest as the driving force behind the alliance.

Speaking to journalists in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, Lamido emphasized that the collaboration among opposition parties is a patriotic response to the deepening hardship faced by ordinary Nigerians under the current administration.

“Any patriotic Nigerian with the common man in his heart must give his contribution to overturn the present administration to save the country—particularly the ordinary people, who are suffering in every sector,” he stated.

Despite his support for the ADC-backed coalition, Lamido reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP, the party he helped establish and build.

“I remain in PDP. It is the party we gave birth to, nurtured, and one that delivered progress to Nigeria and Nigerians. I will not leave it,” he declared.

Describing his role as that of a mentor and guide rather than a political contender, the elder statesman said his focus remains on shaping Nigeria’s democratic future.

Lamido made the remarks during a political gathering organized by the PDP in Dutse, where he was joined by Senator Mustapha Khabeeb, who represents Jigawa South West in the National Assembly.

Also present at the event was Alhaji Kabiru Hussaini, Chairman of the ADC in Jigawa State, whom Lamido introduced to PDP members, signaling growing cooperation between the two parties at the grassroots level.

Lamido’s endorsement adds weight to the opposition’s momentum ahead of the 2027 elections, as political realignments continue to take shape across the country.
