The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, has dismissed circulating rumors about his alleged defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC). He described the reports as baseless and unfounded.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Nasif Sholagberu, Senator Mustapha reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the APC, highlighting his role as a founding member of the party.

“For the sake of clarity, it is worth reiterating that Senator Saliu Mustapha remains a staunch and loyal founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). As one of the privileged signatories to the historic February 2013 agreement that united the three legacy parties to form the APC, his contributions to the creation, growth, and continued success of the party are well-documented and highly regarded by stakeholders and members,” the statement noted.

The Senator, who also holds the traditional title of Turaki Ilorin, dismissed the rumors as a deliberate campaign of misinformation propagated on social media.

“Our attention has been drawn to a series of fabricated reports alleging a purported endorsement and defection involving Senator Saliu Mustapha. As a matter of principle and policy, we do not dignify fake news or its peddlers with rebuttals,” the statement read.

According to Sholagberu, the source of the falsehoods and their motivations are well known, but they fail to recognize that leadership and ambition are determined by the will of God, not by smear campaigns.

The Senator remains focused on fulfilling his legislative mandate to serve the people of Kwara Central. “Senator Mustapha is steadfast in his mandate at the National Assembly and refuses to be distracted by baseless propaganda,” the statement added.

The public is urged to disregard the rumors and treat them as the product of mischief makers with no constructive agenda.
