Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo South in the National Assembly, has asserted that several governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition parties are preparing to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Ibrahim stated that while criticism of the APC-led government has been widely discussed, the influx of political figures from the opposition into the party has not received equal attention.
“That is a one-sided argument,” he said in response to concerns about internal criticism within the APC. “What about those from PDP that are joining us? You’re not looking at that. You abandoned it completely.”
He pointed to instances of PDP members aligning with the APC-led government, citing Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as an example.
“How about Wike? Yeah, he said he’s PDP, but he’s serving in the APC government,” Ibrahim noted.
The lawmaker further claimed that several opposition governors and senators are considering switching allegiance to the APC in the coming weeks. However, he declined to disclose specific names to avoid what he termed “embarrassment” for those involved.
“I can tell you that when I come back next time, you’ll see a governor crossing to APC,” he added.
His remarks come amid ongoing political realignments and speculations about party defections ahead of future elections.
