The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 general election, Prince Adewale Adebayo, has reiterated his commitment to supporting governments at all levels to achieve good governance.
Speaking as the chairman of the Numan Cultural Carnival 2025 in Adamawa State, Adebayo emphasized that the SDP prioritizes the success of governance over electoral outcomes. He noted that the party’s focus is on ensuring that every government performs effectively for the benefit of the people.
“We do not want the government of the day to fail—whether it is the government in Yola or the Federal Government in Abuja. Once a government is in place, that becomes our government. We will not sabotage them or criticise them unfairly,” Adebayo stated.
He further added that the SDP would continue to demonstrate how governance can be improved, saying, “Whatever the government is doing, we can do better. And whatever bad they are doing, we will not join them. Our aim is for every government we elect to be better than the one before it.”
The event, which featured cultural displays from across the five local government areas of the Numan Federation, highlighted the importance of unity and heritage. Adebayo urged Nigerians to embrace and celebrate their cultural ideals, emphasizing the role of traditions in fostering national unity.
Adebayo was accompanied by prominent SDP figures, including former Youth and Sports Minister Solomon Dalung and the party’s 2023 Adamawa State governorship candidate, Dr. Umar Ardo.
Dalung, speaking at the event, shared his passion for cultural preservation, referencing his sponsorship of the Tarok Cultural Carnival in Plateau State as an example of his commitment to celebrating cultural ideals.
The Numan Cultural Carnival was convened by Bishop Rhema Bitrus, who described the event as a platform to promote unity within the Numan Federation.
The carnival brought together cultural troupes from various local governments, showcasing the rich heritage of Adamawa State and underscoring the significance of cultural harmony in building a stronger nation.
