“Peter Obi Will Join APC” – Tinubu’s Aide Makes Bold Prediction Ahead of 2027

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has expressed confidence that Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), will join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) before the 2027 elections.

Speaking on TVC’s Breakfast Show on Wednesday, March 12, 2024, Bwala asserted that Obi would not contest under the LP in the next presidential race. He based his claim on the recent defection of Valentine Ozigbo, a close ally of Obi, to the APC.

“Do you know we are emptying the Labour Party, not because we asked them to come but because they are coming? Valentine Ozigbo has joined us. Balami has joined us. Even Peter Obi will join us. Peter Obi will not run on the Labour Party; we are all leaving the party,” Bwala stated.

He further emphasized Ozigbo’s influence over Obi, suggesting that his move to the APC signals an inevitable shift for the former Anambra State governor.

“For Valentine Ozigbo to come to our party—Ozigbo is actually the custodian of Peter Obi—then, I know for a fact that Peter Obi will join us,” he added.

Ozigbo had announced his resignation from the LP three weeks ago, citing internal crises within the party. Shortly after joining the APC, he hinted at the possibility of Obi following suit.

While Obi has yet to make any public statement regarding a potential defection, Bwala’s remarks have fueled speculation about the political realignments ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
