PDP Vows Strong Comeback in 2027, Reassures Nigerians of Unity and Renewed Hope

ABUJA — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its commitment to unity, stability, and credible leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring itself the only viable alternative capable of restoring hope to Nigerians.

Speaking at the party’s 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Monday, PDP National Chairman, Umar Damagum, said Nigerians continue to look to the party not just as the leading opposition, but as a trusted platform to deliver equity, justice, and good governance.

“The renewed confidence in the PDP is a clear reminder of the responsibility we carry. From one convention to another, our party has consistently demonstrated internal democracy, inclusivity, and respect for collective decision-making,” Damagum said.

He pledged that the current National Working Committee (NWC) would deliver a successful elective national convention that would produce strong leadership to guide the party into the 2027 elections.

Also addressing the NEC, Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed, expressed optimism that the party was steadily repositioning itself to become the “party of choice” for Nigerians.

“In spite of internal and external challenges, we are managing the situation carefully and collectively to ensure a smooth path toward the convention. Today, all issues around state congresses have been resolved, and the PDP remains strong, cohesive, and forward-looking,” Mohammed assured.

Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, echoed similar sentiments, urging stakeholders to build on the current peace and unity within the party. “With continued unity and commitment, the PDP will be stronger and highly competitive in the upcoming elections,” he said.

House of Representatives Minority Leader, Kingsley Chinda, also appealed for sacrifices and trust among members, noting that confidence in the party’s direction was being restored.

“We must reduce internal suspicion and focus on decisions that will move the party forward for the benefit of Nigerians who still place their hope in the PDP,” Chinda stated.

With the 2027 race looming, PDP leaders emphasized that the party was not just preparing for elections but positioning itself as the credible alternative Nigerians yearn for.
