The Northwest Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Supporters Group has vehemently condemned the recent alleged attempted assassination of Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, who represents the Kaduna Central Senatorial District.

In a strongly worded statement, the group described the incident as a “brazen attempt to murder democracy in broad daylight” and an overzealous political maneuver against the lawmaker. The PDP supporters called for swift action by security agencies, particularly the Police and the Department of State Security, to thoroughly investigate the matter and identify those responsible for the attack.

“We are aware that Senator Usman is a key political figure in Kaduna State, who has made significant contributions to his constituents. His achievements and growing popularity have unsettled certain groups, leading them to attempt such drastic measures to eliminate him or sabotage his life,” said the group’s spokesperson, Engr. Sanusi Sarki.

Sarki further emphasized that such incidents are unacceptable in any democratic society, urging security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. The group also advised political figures to exercise heightened security awareness while carrying out their official duties.

The PDP Supporters called on the PDP Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, to initiate an immediate investigation into the attempted assassination.

In response, the Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident, promising that all necessary measures will be taken to bring those responsible to justice.
