A political group, PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress, has urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to persuade President Bola Tinubu to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a true test of his loyalty.
The group made the call in Umuahia on Tuesday while reacting to Wike’s reported criticism of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Adolphus Wabara, for praising Abia State Governor Alex Otti’s achievements.
National Coordinator of the group, Emeka Ikpegbu, defended Wabara’s stance, insisting that Wike should prove his commitment to the PDP by bringing President Tinubu into the party.
“Wike should first bring his principal, President Bola Tinubu, whom he praises every day, to the PDP before preaching to us about anti-party,” Ikpegbu stated.
He further questioned why Wike, a former PDP governor and presidential aspirant now serving under the APC-led administration, had not been sanctioned for anti-party activities.
“Is there any anti-party act worse than a former PDP governor serving as a minister in an APC government? How many times has Wike publicly praised President Tinubu, yet he remains untouched?” he queried.
The group urged Wike to focus on his ministerial duties and refrain from interfering in PDP affairs. They commended the party’s BoT and governors for standing firm in the Rivers State political crisis and supporting Sunday Ude-Okoye’s confirmation as PDP National Secretary.
Predicting a brighter future for the party in 2027, the group encouraged PDP members to resist intimidation and remain committed to repositioning the party.
