PDP BoT Chairman Cites Inadequate Security as Cause of Recent Meeting Brawl

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Adolphus Wabara, has attributed the recent altercation at the party’s headquarters to inadequate security.

Speaking at a BoT meeting held at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, on Wednesday, Wabara addressed the violent incident that occurred on January 29 during a previous BoT gathering, where tensions over the party’s national secretary position escalated into a physical confrontation.

Wabara emphasized that, following a careful review of the situation, the BoT had resolved to hold its meetings outside the party secretariat until security concerns are adequately addressed.

“While we look ahead with optimism, we must also acknowledge the unfortunate incident that took place during our last Board of Trustees meeting,” he said.

“These incidents were largely due to inadequate security at the party headquarters. As a result, and after thorough consideration, the BoT has resolved that until the security situation is effectively addressed, its subsequent meetings will be held outside of the party secretariat. The safety of our members and the integrity of our discussions must never be compromised.”

The former Senate President called on the PDP leadership to take immediate steps to enhance security at the party’s headquarters, ensuring that it remains a safe and conducive environment for party affairs.
