Two prominent leaders of the Labour Party—2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Abia State Governor, Alex Otti—have summoned a crucial meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), set to hold in Abuja on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
The meeting, which comes in the wake of the Supreme Court’s termination of the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee, is expected to shape the future direction of the party and foster renewed unity among stakeholders.
According to a notice signed by Ibrahim Umar, spokesperson for the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), the NEC session will be followed by a town hall-style engagement with key stakeholders and other organs of the party at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
The gathering will bring together a broad array of Labour Party leaders and supporters, including the party’s 2023 vice presidential candidate, serving and former senators, senatorial and House of Representatives candidates from the last general election, as well as members of the dissolved National Working Committee, the National Caretaker Committee, and representatives of the NLC/TUC Political Commission.
The event is expected to serve as a platform for dialogue, strategic planning, and reorganization within the party ranks ahead of future political contests.
