Musa Nuhu Yankaba, the former spokesperson of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano, has reaffirmed that the party bearing the fruit logo is the true and original NNPP. In a recent interview with DCL Hausa, Yankaba declared that key figures such as Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf no longer belong to the authentic party.
Yankaba’s comments come amid a controversy sparked by Kwankwaso’s faction, which recently altered the party’s logo to a book symbol. He emphasized that the Kano state government was elected under the original NNPP, urging party leaders to set aside differences for the party’s progress.
In support of his position, Yankaba referenced a ruling by an Abia state court on November 1, 2024, which confirmed Boniface’s faction as the rightful leadership of the party. The court also annulled previous actions, including the logo change and the election of new leaders, thus declaring that Kwankwaso and Yusuf no longer control a legitimate political party.
“We stand firm with the original NNPP, and we call on all those who care about Kano and the party to return to its true fold,” stated Yankaba, who now serves as the Secretary-General of the original NNPP.
