BREAKING: EFCC grills ex-Gov Kwankwaso over N10bn pension fund

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has publicly apologised to President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) over recent verbal attacks launched by its former presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos, the NNPP’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Oginni Olaposi, firmly disowned Kwankwaso’s comments and cautioned him against using the party’s platform to criticise the President or the ruling party.

“We hereby tender an unreserved apology to President Tinubu and the entire APC family, led by Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, for the unwarranted insults, abuse, and maligning statements issued by Kwankwaso,” Olaposi stated.

He further clarified that Kwankwaso has been formally expelled from the NNPP, and that the party has severed all ties with the Kwankwasiya Movement he leads, following the termination of the Memorandum of Understanding between both parties.

“Kwankwaso should stop parading himself as a member of our party. He was expelled long ago and does not represent the NNPP in any capacity. His recent attacks on the APC and the Presidency are entirely personal and do not reflect the official position of our party,” he added.

Olaposi also cited multiple court rulings, including a recent judgment from the Abuja High Court on April 3, which upheld Kwankwaso’s expulsion from the party, along with decisions from Abia State and FCT High Courts.

He emphasized that under the leadership of its founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, the NNPP remains focused on constructive national development and not on political hostility.

“Dr. Aniebonam has never been known for making reckless statements against constituted authorities. Our party is committed to peace and progress,” Olaposi said.

The party urged the media and the public to desist from referring to Kwankwaso as a representative of the NNPP, reiterating that he now solely leads the Kwankwasiya Movement and no longer has any affiliation with the party.
