Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has officially defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that his decision was driven by a commitment to good governance rather than political ambition or personal gain.

In a statement issued by his media consultant, Michael Ogah, on Sunday, Nwoko clarified that his move was not influenced by electoral interests but stemmed from a desire to ensure better representation for his constituents.

“I did not leave the PDP because of elections. My decision was made after deep reflection on the party’s internal challenges and my commitment to ensuring that my people receive the best possible representation,” Nwoko said while addressing stakeholders and supporters in Agbor.

The senator emphasized his focus on delivering quality representation and backing policies that foster progress in Delta State.

Nwoko’s defection has sparked widespread political discussions across Delta North, particularly in Agbor, with many speculating on the potential impact of his move ahead of future elections.

Despite the buzz, the lawmaker reiterated that his switch to the APC was rooted in his dedication to the welfare of his constituents and the pursuit of policies that promote development in the region.

As Delta State’s political landscape continues to evolve, stakeholders are keeping a close watch on how Nwoko’s defection will shape the future of the senatorial district.
