All members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) representing Delta State in the House of Representatives have officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement was made on Tuesday during plenary by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.
The mass defection follows the high-profile exit of former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, and the incumbent Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, who both formally joined the APC during a stakeholders meeting held in Asaba.
Their move has sent ripples through the political landscape, triggering a wave of defections in the state’s political structure.
Meanwhile, Rep. Ikenga Ugochinyere of Ideato Federal Constituency in Imo State hinted that two more PDP governors and at least 40 lawmakers may soon follow suit, further weakening the opposition party.
In response, former Senate President Bukola Saraki has assured party loyalists that the PDP is undergoing repositioning and will bounce back stronger.
