Kano APC Youth Wing Rejects Kwankwaso’s Return, Labels Him Politically Irrelevant

The All Progressives Congress Youth and Students Council (KASASCO) has issued a firm rejection of any moves to reintegrate Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso into the party, describing the former governor as politically irrelevant and a potential threat to the party’s cohesion in Kano State.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Kano on Tuesday, the group maintained that the APC has no need for Kwankwaso’s return, insisting that his influence in Kano politics has significantly declined.

“The APC in Kano is stronger than ever under the leadership of Prince Abdullahi Abbas. We have two senators, several House of Representatives members, and a robust presence in the State House of Assembly. Kwankwaso brings no value to our party, directly or indirectly,” KASASCO stated.

The youth group pointed to recent high-profile defections from Kwankwaso’s New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the APC as evidence of waning confidence in the Kwankwasiyya movement. Notable defectors include Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, and Reps members Kabiru Alhassan Rurum and Abdullahi Sani Rogo.

“These individuals left due to unjust treatment and lack of recognition after years of loyalty to the Kwankwasiyya cause,” the group said.

KASASCO praised the ongoing reconciliation efforts within the APC and expressed confidence that the party is well-positioned for victory in the 2027 general elections, projecting that Kano would deliver over two million votes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates.

Dismissing Kwankwaso’s rumored interest in returning to the party, the group declared: “The APC is not a political refuge. We are not seeking individuals who might disrupt our unity or progress.”

The group also applauded the strategic leadership of APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Senator Barau Jibrin, crediting them with successfully absorbing over 80 percent of the Kwankwasiyya movement into the APC.
