Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has dismissed reports of a rift between him and his predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai, insisting that their relationship remains cordial.
Speaking during a TVC news program on Monday, Governor Sani emphasized that his administration is focused on the progress of Kaduna State and not personal disputes.
“I can tell you there’s no problem between me and my predecessor. Our relationship is very cordial, and there’s nothing wrong with it. What is more important here is moving our state forward,” he stated.
Addressing speculation about tensions with the Kaduna State House of Assembly, the governor maintained that the legislature operates independently and that there are no conflicts.
His remarks follow a probe by the State Assembly, which in June 2023 submitted a report alleging that El-Rufai and some of his appointees misappropriated N423 billion in state funds.
In response, El-Rufai’s media aide, Muyiwa Adekeye, dismissed the allegations, describing the report as false and scandalous.
The probe came weeks after Governor Sani lamented the significant debt profile inherited from the previous administration.
