Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has declared that the state is now effectively a one-party state, asserting that opposition parties have become irrelevant in the political landscape.
Uzodinma made the statement while welcoming the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, alongside other party leaders who were in the state for the commissioning of newly constructed roads.
According to the governor, the APC’s widespread acceptance in the state is a result of its people-centered governance and infrastructural projects, which he credited for the party’s dominance in the recent Local Government Area (LGA) elections.
“I can testify to you, Mr. Chairman, that as a party, we have won the hearts of Imo people through our superlative performance in the last five years,” Uzodinma stated.
He maintained that the opposition parties in Imo State have faded into obscurity due to what he described as the visible progress and transformation brought about by his administration. He pointed to the results of the State House of Assembly and LGA elections, where the APC secured nearly all available seats, as evidence of the party’s firm grip on the state’s political structure.
“The APC government has put the state back on track, and moving forward is the only assurance,” he added.
The governor further reaffirmed his commitment to delivering more infrastructural projects and human capital development, promising to sustain the momentum of progress under APC leadership.
