PORT HARCOURT — The Labour Party Chairman in Rivers State, Hilda Dokubo, has dismissed reports of her suspension, clarifying that she remains an active member and the state chairman of the party.
Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Dokubo described the alleged suspension by Ward 3 executives in Asari-Toru Local Government Area as baseless. She explained that the individuals behind the claim are not recognized as official party executives due to the dissolution of previous committees.
Dokubo assured that new ward and local government executives would soon be inaugurated across Rivers State, accusing those behind the suspension claims of forging signatures to validate their actions.
In response to allegations of defying the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Dokubo firmly denied any rebellion. She attributed the controversy to her refusal of an appointment as an advisory member in a Labour Party support group, stating that holding two positions simultaneously would be inappropriate.
Reaffirming her commitment to the party, Dokubo emphasized her dedication to fostering peace and unity among Labour Party members in Rivers State.
