Ex-Osun Governorship Candidate Warns Tinubu: “Beware of the Adeleke Dynasty”

Former Osun State governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Engr. Busuyi Ayowole, has issued a strong warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to tread cautiously in his engagements with the Adeleke family, accusing them of political manipulation and betrayal.

In a statement obtained by DAILY POST on Thursday, Ayowole alleged that members of the Adeleke family — including music star Davido — have been making multiple efforts to secure private meetings with the president in Abuja and Lagos.

“I want to warn you about the Adeleke’s. They’ve been sending their son, Davido, to meet you in different places in Abuja and probably in Lagos,” Ayowole stated. “They’ve made several attempts to ensure they reach you and have a close-range conversation with you.”

He claimed the Adeleke family, including Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and his elder brother, Dr. Deji Adeleke, are strategizing to extend their political influence beyond Osun, with alleged ambitions of dominating Lagos State politics.

“They are smarter than you,” Ayowole said in reference to President Tinubu, warning that the Adelekes have a history of betraying allies. “Everybody they’ve met on their way to the top, they’ve betrayed — starting recently from Omisore to Adagunodo.”

He accused the Adeleke family of building a political empire at the expense of those who supported their rise to power in Osun. “They believe they own Osun State,” he added.

The PRP chieftain also revealed plans to seek legal redress over what he described as malicious information circulated against his candidacy a day before the Osun 2022 gubernatorial election.

Ayowole didn’t hold back in his message to President Tinubu on the state of the nation either. He called on the president to address the economic hardship faced by Nigerians, stressing that hunger and poverty are fueling growing discontent.

“Nigerians are angry. Nigerians are hungry,” he said. “You’re trying, Mr. President, but we want to see the results of your efforts in the daily lives of ordinary Nigerians. It’s not about trying — it’s about achieving results.”

On the local political scene, Ayowole cautioned the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) against allowing Governor Adeleke to defect to the party, warning that it could render the state a one-party system.

“If the Adelekes are allowed to come into the APC, that means Osun State will become a one-party state — but we won’t allow that to happen,” he said.

His comments followed the circulation of viral photos earlier in the week showing Governor Adeleke, his brother Dr. Deji Adeleke, and Davido visiting President Tinubu at his Lagos residence.

In response to speculation about a potential party switch, Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, clarified that the governor remains committed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and has no intentions of defecting.

Meanwhile, the Osun APC and former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, have also voiced opposition to any potential defection by Adeleke, stating unequivocally that the party’s 2026 governorship ticket “is not for sale.”
