Ex-ADP Guber Candidate, Halle, Defects To APC

Engr. Kemi Elebute-Halle, the former female governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the 2022 election, has been formally accepted into the state-ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Biodun Oyebanji, who received the politicians who defected to the party, assured the engineer-turned-politician and her supporters that their future and political careers are guaranteed in the party.

Oyebanji, who was represented by his deputy, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, at the event where Elebute-Halle and hundreds of her supporters officially dumped ADP for APC, described the ruling party as the most democratic party in the country in terms of democracy dividend delivery and better welfare packages for the masses.

The governor, who allayed all fears, said there is no place for discrimination or deprivation against the defectors as APC members under his leadership.

He added that the party is unique in terms of inclusivity, welfare, and the dividends of democracy given to members and the citizens at large.

Oyebanji said the rank of the APC has continued to swell owing to populist governance and people-centric policies and programmes his government has initiated to bring solace to the masses since he assumed office.

“Let me assure you that Governor Oyebanji and the party leaders will give you every opportunity to realise your ambition in APC. Our party is for all Nigerians, and this is the only party that prioritises Nigerian interests over and above other narrow interests.

“The APC is the most democratic party in Nigeria, which also considers women and youth strategic partners in the decision-making process”.

The APC Acting Chairman in Ekiti State, Hon Sola Elesin, who handed over the party’s flag to the defectors, described the defectors’ leader as a heavyweight politician who will add value to the APC.

Responding, Elebute-Halle said her decision to join APC is to add value to Governor Oyebanji’s government, which she described as resounding in performance and delivery.
