Abuja, Nigeria — Former Imo State Governor Chief Achike Udenwa has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) prolonged leadership crisis will soon be resolved. Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show this Tuesday, Udenwa said the party is prepared to enforce its constitution fully—even if it means expelling those who refuse to comply.
“Well, I think we are coming to the end of that struggle,” Udenwa told hosts. “And that end will be that if you don’t comply with what the party constitution says, then you will be disciplined. If it means showing you the way out, we show you the way out.”
Udenwa emphasized that no individual—regardless of rank or influence—is exempt from the party’s rules. “Nobody is above the party. Nobody is above the constitution of the party,” he said. “If you have observed that such people have already violated the Constitution of the party, be rest assured that we have enough courage to exactly implement what the Constitution or the party says.”
He further praised the work of the PDP’s disciplinary committee, chaired by former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and expressed optimism that the panel will soon take definitive action. “I’m sure that the disciplinary committee that is working right now will come up with something very soon, and such people will be adequately disciplined.”
With Udenwa’s remarks, the PDP aims to reassure supporters and stakeholders that internal disputes will not derail its broader political agenda as it prepares for upcoming elections.
