“Death Threats Over 400”: APC’s Felix Morka Accuses Obi Supporters After Controversial Remarks

0

The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has alleged that he and his family have received over 400 threats, including about 200 explicit death threats. The threats reportedly stem from his recent remarks concerning the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Morka stated that the threats began after Obi accused him of making comments during a Sunday interview on Arise Television that constituted a threat to Obi’s life.

Appearing on Arise News again on Wednesday, Morka revealed the alarming extent of the threats, many of which he described as graphic and explicit.

“Peter Obi’s allegations that my words in that interview threatened his life have triggered serious consequences,” Morka said. “As of now, I have documented 400 threats, about 200 of which are explicit death threats. These are written threats that I will be submitting to law enforcement agencies.

“In these messages, individuals have detailed how they plan to harm me—threatening to shoot me, behead me, and carry out other gruesome acts. This is not mere rhetoric. It has even extended to direct threats against some members of my family.”

Morka firmly denied making any statements that could be interpreted as threatening Obi, calling the accusations baseless.

“This entire situation is baseless and cannot be attributed to me. I did not threaten Peter Obi in any way. Those issuing these threats are acting on their own, but I trust that law enforcement will respond swiftly to bring them to justice,” he added.

Political Fallout
The controversy erupted after Morka, during the Sunday interview, accused Obi of “crossing the line” in his criticisms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, suggesting that Obi “deserved whatever came his way.” The remarks sparked widespread condemnation.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, a presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), called on the APC to issue an apology to Obi and Nigerians, describing Morka’s language as inflammatory and disgraceful.

The Labour Party also reacted strongly, issuing a seven-day ultimatum to President Tinubu, demanding that Morka be reprimanded. Marcel Ngogbehei, Director-General of the Labour Party’s Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration, decried what he called a “targeted campaign” against Obi following his New Year’s State of the Nation address.

As the political tension continues to escalate, all eyes remain on how law enforcement and political actors will address the situation.
