ABUJA – Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has rejected an ex-parte application by embattled PDP National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, seeking to prevent the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing his removal.
Instead, the judge ordered Anyanwu to notify INEC and other defendants in the suit, allowing them to present their arguments before any decision is made.
Anyanwu had approached the court on Wednesday, urging it to restrain INEC from accepting any correspondence from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) unless signed by him. He also sought an order barring PDP Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagun, from submitting documents to INEC without his approval.
While acknowledging the urgency of the matter, Justice Ekwo ruled that the defendants must be heard before any interim order is issued. He directed Anyanwu to serve court papers on INEC and Damagun, setting February 24 for the hearing.
