Barrister Chijioke Edeoga has officially rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), weeks after meeting with the party’s leadership.
Edeoga, who initially left the PDP following the party’s primary election, defected to the Labour Party (LP), where he mounted a formidable challenge against the then PDP candidate and current Governor, Peter Mbah.
In a strategic move to bring him back into the fold, the PDP chairman in Enugu State, Hon. Martin Chukwunweike, visited Edeoga at his residence in Enugu, urging him to return to his political family.
Before the PDP’s intervention, the All Progressives Congress (APC) had also made efforts to woo Edeoga to their side. However, signs of his decision to settle for the PDP became apparent last week when he convened a meeting with Labour Party stakeholders in his Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, presenting them with both options. The stakeholders, however, expressed their preference for his return to the PDP.
Addressing party members at the PDP secretariat in Enugu on Monday, Edeoga described his return as a “homecoming,” expressing gratitude to those who facilitated his reconciliation with the party.
