Atiku Accuses Tinubu’s APC of Desperation to Retain Power

0

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) of resorting to political violence and undemocratic practices in a desperate bid to retain power.

Atiku’s statement followed violent clashes during local government elections in Osun State, where APC-backed thugs allegedly attempted to seize control of all 30 local government council secretariats. The violence, which led to one fatality, prompted Atiku to accuse the APC of subverting Nigeria’s democracy. He also condemned the invasion of the Lagos State House of Assembly by Department of State Services (DSS) agents and police officers.

Atiku called on Nigerians to resist what he described as a “full-scale assault” on democratic processes, accusing the ruling party of using intimidation and lawlessness to cling to power. He praised the people of Osun for their resistance, urging security forces to maintain professionalism during the elections and not become tools of political oppression.

“These are dangerous times,” Atiku warned, adding that Tinubu’s administration must cease its “reckless acts of political sabotage” and prioritize good governance over chaos.
