A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Chukwuebuka Obidike, has declared that the party has begun strategic moves to unseat Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, in the upcoming gubernatorial election slated for November 8, 2025.
Speaking in the wake of Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu’s victory in the recently concluded APC governorship primary, Obidike described the emergence of the business magnate and politician as a “turning point” in the state’s political landscape, adding that the APC is now well-positioned to reclaim Anambra.
“The victory of Dr. Ukachukwu sends a strong signal—our party is ready and determined to end the abysmal administration of Governor Soludo,” Obidike said.
According to the APC stalwart, the party’s confidence is buoyed by what he termed the incumbent’s poor performance, despite the improved national revenue under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He criticized Soludo’s administration for failing to address insecurity, which he said has crippled the state’s commercial vitality.
“Anambra, once a hub of entrepreneurship and innovation, is now struggling under the weight of poor governance,” Obidike lamented. “The ‘African-Dubai’ vision that brought Soludo to power in 2021 remains a mirage.”
Obidike further claimed that Governor Soludo is seeking the support of the presidency in a bid to secure a second term. He urged President Tinubu to distance himself from such overtures, alleging that Soludo’s political ambition could conflict with the president’s long-term agenda.
“In contrast, the APC continues to gain momentum across Anambra due to the visible achievements of President Tinubu. Our chances in this election are not just strong—they’re overwhelming,” he asserted.
He noted that if successful, the APC’s victory would make Anambra the third state in the South East under its control, a move he believes will bring the state closer to the national grid for development and political inclusion.
Calling on the people of Anambra to rally behind the APC and its candidate, Obidike concluded, “This election is not just about politics—it’s about rescuing Anambra and giving it the future it deserves.”
