0

As the race for the November 25, 2025, Anambra governorship election gains momentum, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that aspirants seeking to contest under its platform must pay ₦50 million to obtain the nomination and expression of interest forms.

The party also released a comprehensive timetable for its primary election, detailing key activities and deadlines ahead of the poll.

According to the schedule signed by the APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, female aspirants and persons with disabilities will only be required to purchase the expression of interest form for ₦10 million, while the nomination form will be issued to them at no cost. Additionally, young politicians aged between 25 and 40 years will receive a 50% discount on the nomination form but must pay the full amount for the expression of interest form.

Timeline for the APC Primaries

Argungu stated that interested aspirants must obtain their forms between February 10 and 25 at the APC national headquarters in Wuse II, Abuja, with the submission deadline set for February 26.

Further key activities outlined in the party’s schedule include:

Screening of Aspirants – March 7 and 8

Publication of Screening Results – March 10

Delegates Congress – April 2

Primary Election – April 5

Ratification of Primary Election Results – April 6

Submission of Nominated Candidates List to APC National Working Committee (NWC) – April 8

Campaign Activities

The APC has set June 11 as the official commencement date for its governorship campaign in Anambra, with the final day of political activities slated for November 6.

The party’s decision to peg the nomination fee at ₦50 million has sparked debate among party members and political observers. While some argue that the cost may restrict grassroots politicians from participating, others believe it reflects the party’s commitment to fielding serious contenders.

With the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirming November 8, 2025, as the official date for the Anambra governorship election, the APC is preparing for a competitive primary and an intense campaign season in the southeastern state.
