The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has stated that he is unsure whether former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, is a member of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
Morka made this remark during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today while discussing the party’s NEC meeting held at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.
The high-profile gathering was attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and other party leaders. However, notable absentees included El-Rufai and former Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi.
El-Rufai, in a recent interview, accused President Tinubu and National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu of orchestrating his failed ministerial nomination, alleging that Ribadu was acting on personal political ambitions for 2031. He has also been critical of APC’s internal democracy.
Addressing El-Rufai’s absence, Morka stated, “Many members traveled from outside Abuja to attend the meeting. If El-Rufai wanted to be there, he would have come. By the way, I don’t know if he’s a member of NEC—I doubt that.”
The APC NEC meeting followed a national caucus meeting at the Presidential Villa, underscoring ongoing internal tensions within the ruling party.
