The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has clarified that it has not endorsed any of the seven aspirants vying for the party’s ticket ahead of the April 5 governorship primary in Anambra State.
APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, made this known on Tuesday in Abuja during a stakeholders’ meeting convened by the party’s national leadership.
“We, members of the National Working Committee, are just catalysts. Catalysts do not take part in chemical reactions, but they facilitate the process. Our role is to create an enabling environment for a fair and credible primary. We are not in conflict with any aspirant—our goal is to ensure one of you emerges as the party’s flagbearer,” Ganduje stated.
He urged all aspirants to unite behind the eventual winner of the primary election, stressing the importance of party cohesion in securing victory against the incumbent administration.
“It is not easy to unseat a sitting government. Strategic political calculation and cooperation are key. We urge you—no litigation, no anti-party activities, and no indifference. Your active participation is crucial,” he added.
Ganduje further emphasized the need for unity, warning against internal divisions or bias against any candidate. He urged aspirants to work collectively, stating that securing electoral victory would benefit all party members.
“You are all equal in our eyes. Once a candidate emerges, we expect everyone to rally behind him as foot soldiers to ensure our victory. We do not want a repeat of the Andy Uba episode,” he cautioned.
Earlier, Anambra APC Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, commended the party’s leadership for organizing the stakeholders’ meeting, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening internal democracy.
