Rep. Yusuf Galambi of the Gwaram Federal Constituency, Jigawa State, has officially dumped the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing internal crises within his former party.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, announced Galambi’s defection during Thursday’s plenary in Abuja, welcoming him to the ruling party and urging APC members to embrace their new colleague.
Galambi’s move adds to a growing wave of defections in the National Assembly. Recently, Rep. Amos Magaji (Zangon Kataf, Kaduna State) crossed from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, while Rep. Salisu Koko (Koko-Besse/Maiyama, Kebbi State) also joined the ruling party.
The trend underscores the shifting dynamics within Nigeria’s legislative chambers as the APC continues to solidify its majority.
