Anambra APC Protests APGA’s Dominance in Federal Appointments, Calls for Tinubu’s Intervention

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State has raised concerns over what it describes as the overwhelming influence of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, in federal government affairs.

Speaking over the weekend, the state APC chairman, Basil Ejidike, lamented that federal appointments meant for Anambra had been dominated by APGA members, sidelining loyal APC members who have worked tirelessly for the party.

Ejidike also alleged that palliatives sent by the federal government to the state were rebranded with Soludo’s image and APGA insignia before being distributed, primarily to members of the ruling party in the state.

“Sir, may I seize this opportunity to draw your attention to some challenges confronting the APC in Anambra State that require your kind intervention,” Ejidike pleaded in an appeal to President Bola Tinubu.

He argued that the exclusion of APC members from federal appointments and incentives was weakening the party’s presence and morale in the state ahead of the 2025 elections.

“At the ward, local government, and state levels, our members are being discriminated against, as APGA does not recognize or reckon with those who are not their members in the distribution and allocation of government appointments and incentives,” Ejidike said.

He urged the APC national leadership, particularly the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, to step in and address the issue to prevent further alienation of party loyalists.

“This arrangement has continued to diminish our party’s influence and reach within the state, and we are terrified, to say the least,” he added.

The APC in Anambra is now seeking urgent intervention from the presidency to ensure fair representation in federal appointments and equitable distribution of government resources in the state.
