Paul Chukwuma, an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant for the 2025 Anambra State election, has denied allegations of money laundering involving $378,000 and a Mercedes Benz Maybach.
The accusations stemmed from an online report claiming that the Abuja Federal High Court ordered the forfeiture of the funds and vehicle, allegedly linked to unlawful activities. Counsel for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Osuobeni Akponimisingha, presented the case before Justice Emeka Nwite via a motion ex parte.
Chukwuma, also the Managing Director and CEO of Fides Et Ratio Academy Limited, addressed the allegations during a press briefing at his Umueri residence in Anambra East Local Government Area. He insisted the funds were legitimately earned through a Federal Government contract executed by his company.
“This is an attempt by political opponents to intimidate me and derail my ambition to serve as the governor of Anambra. I cannot be intimidated. I will win my party’s ticket and go on to win the election to deliver the dividends of democracy to Ndi Anambra,” Chukwuma stated.
He explained that the funds remain in the company’s account and that all related documentation is in the ICPC’s custody. According to him, the contract involved training programs on Intellectual Property Rights in partnership with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
Chukwuma reaffirmed his integrity, declaring, “I pay my taxes and have nothing to hide. My image cannot be tarnished by unpatriotic elements who fear my growing political influence.”
The APC aspirant expressed confidence in the party’s growing strength in the South-East and reaffirmed his determination to win both the party’s ticket and the governorship election.
